WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE IN-PERSON VISITS:
The visit begins in our main office on the second floor of Great Lakes Maritime Academy (located at 715 E. Front Street, Traverse City, MI 49686) with a discussion about our programs, requirements, cadet life, college resources, Midshipmen program, cadet expectations and career preparation. Following the discussion with an admission representative, a walking tour of the Great Lakes Campus, including the labs, classrooms, simulators, harbor and vessels (if available and in port) will be given by cadets when their schedule permits. The visit will take approximately 90 minutes.
Interested in meeting current cadets? We have cadets available to assist with the 9:00 tours. A Deck cadet is available on Mondays and an Engineering Cadet is available on Thursdays.
Families have the option for a guided or unguided tour the Northwestern Michigan College Campus either before or after the Great Lakes Campus tour. On the NMC "main campus" you may visit general education classrooms, residence halls, the new "Innovation Center", cafeteria, library, bookstore and more.
REGISTER HERE to add on the NMC guided tour (Note - Maritime majors are not included as a choice intentionally. Select General Studies on the NMC site). The campuses are roughly a half-mile apart. If you prefer an unguided self tour, we will provide you with a map, parking pass and suggested path.
